Strength for Runners

Two workouts to save your knees and boost speed

Who it’s for

You run regularly and need strength work as support, not as your primary load.

How it works

Two short strength sessions per week that do not compete with running volume: heavy sets in low rep ranges and single-leg work. Strength without hypertrophy—a runner does not need extra mass, they need stiffness and power off the ground.

How load increases

4 sets of 4–6 reps with two reps in reserve. Add weight every two weeks. On long run weeks, schedule strength work at least 48 hours before the run.

Deload

Matches the deload week of your running plan.
