Obstacle Race Prep

Running under fatigue accounts for half your performance

Who it’s for

You're preparing for a 'run plus exercise stations' format and want to optimize your time.

How it works

In these events, running takes up about 59% of overall time and remains the primary performance factor. Running volume is the core, and station work is practiced directly after running rather than fresh. Transition times between running and stations—where minutes are lost silently—are trained explicitly. Grip strength is a hidden bottleneck, as carries, sandbag, and wall balls land back-to-back in the second half.

How load increases

Running volume and run-to-station combo length increase. The final four weeks simulate race components: half-distance sections at race pace.

Deload

Every fourth week: cut volume by half while keeping intensity identical. Two-week taper pre-race: reduce volume by 40–60% without dropping intensity.
