Daily Strength Practice

Five movements, ten reps total, never to failure

Who it’s for

Primary demands come from life: sports, work, family. You need strength, but not at the expense of recovery.

How it works

Five core patterns each session: press, pull, hinge, squat, and loaded carry. No more than ten reps per pattern and zero grindy sets. Aim for the effort level of a 2nd or 3rd warm-up set. This isn't a compromise: Mattocks et al. (2017) demonstrated that a group practicing single heavy reps gained as much strength as a group performing 4 sets to failure.

How load increases

Increase load organically when the bar feels light. The golden rule: never miss a rep. Goals are typically reached by session 20 rather than session 40.

Deload

Not required: loading stays below the threshold where systemic fatigue accumulates.
