Wrist Flexor Stretch
Wrist FlexorsBodyweight
This is a great exercise to boost wrist flexibility and mobility, especially if you spend long hours typing or doing hand-intensive activities.
How to do it
1Extend one arm out in front of you at shoulder height with your palm facing down.
2Point your fingers straight down toward the floor.
3Use your free hand to gently pull your fingers back toward your forearm until you feel a light stretch.
4Hold for 15-30 seconds, then relax.
5Extend the same arm with your palm facing up and fingers pointing down.
6Gently pull your fingers back toward your forearm again. Hold for 15-30 seconds and repeat on the other arm.
Common mistakes
Pulling too hard: Stretching shouldn't hurt. Aim for mild tension, never sharp pain.
Bouncing: Keep every movement smooth and controlled without sudden jerks.
Holding your breath: Remember to breathe deeply and continuously throughout the stretch.
Hyperextending the elbow: Keep a slight micro-bend in your arm rather than locking the elbow out.
Breathing
Breathe deeply and calmly. Inhale to set up, then exhale as you ease deeper into the stretch if comfortable.
Make it harder or easier
To scale down: Reduce the range of motion or don't pull as hard on your fingers. Start with shorter hold times.
To scale up: Gradually increase your hold times to 30-45 seconds and apply slightly more pull as your mobility improves.
Variation: Work through each hand individually or use a wall or table to press against for a deeper stretch.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
