Wall Pistol Squat
Quads, GlutesWall
Single-leg squat variation using a wall to guide your path. Builds quad and glute strength with minimal spine load while keeping balance manageable.
How to do it
1Stand with your back against a wall, step one foot slightly forward, and lean into the wall.
2Shift your weight to the working leg and extend the other leg straight in front of you.
3Slowly bend your working knee and slide your back down the wall into a squat.
4Descend to a comfortable depth while keeping tension in your quad and glute.
5Drive through your standing heel to slide back up to the start.
Common mistakes
Letting your working heel lift off the floor, placing excessive stress on your knee.
Letting your working knee collapse inward, creating unsafe rotational torque.
Dropping quickly into the bottom position, losing muscle control.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower into the squat, and exhale as you press back up.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, reduce your squat depth.
To make it harder, minimize contact with the wall, touching it only lightly for balance.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
