Wall Glute Isometric Press

Wall Glute Isometric Press

GlutesWall

A single-leg lying leg press against a wall that trains the glutes in a squat pattern without any axial spinal loading.

How to do it

1Lie on your back facing a wall, bend one leg to 90 degrees, and plant your foot firmly on the wall.
2Bend your non-working leg and hold it in the air or pull it in toward your chest.
3Press your lower back flat into the floor and tuck your pelvis to lock in your core.
4Drive your foot hard into the wall, driving through the glute and quad of the working leg.
5Hold maximum tension for a few seconds, then smoothly release the push.

Common mistakes

Arching the lower back off the floor while pushing, putting unnecessary strain on the lower back.
Placing the foot too high or too low on the wall, compromising knee joint angles.
Throwing the head back and straining the neck instead of keeping a neutral neck position.

Breathing

Exhale as you press hard into the wall; inhale as you release the pressure.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
