Handstand Walk

Handstand Walk

Shoulders, Triceps, Abs, TrapsBodyweight

An advanced skill exercise that shifts your body weight onto your hands. Develops shoulder endurance, core stabilization, and spatial balance.

How to do it

1Hinge at your hips and place your hands flat on the floor shoulder-width apart.
2Kick up smoothly into a controlled handstand balance.
3Squeeze your abs, glutes, and legs together with elbows locked completely straight.
4Shift your weight slightly over one hand and take a short step forward with the other.
5Keep stepping forward rhythmically, keeping your hips centered over your hands.

Common mistakes

Overarching your lower back into a banana shape, causing severe compression on your spine.
Bending your elbows, which drains shoulder stamina and makes balancing nearly impossible.
Taking giant steps, which throws your center of mass off and causes sudden falls.

Breathing

Breathe smoothly and rhythmically—never hold your breath while walking.

Make it harder or easier

To scale down, master static wall holds and shoulder taps; to progress, practice walking up ramps or around obstacles.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
