V-Up
Abs, Hip FlexorsBodyweight
A dynamic core builder targeting your rectus abdominis and hip flexors by folding your body in half.
How to do it
1Lie flat on your back with legs fully extended and arms stretched overhead.
2Brace your abs and press your low back flush against the floor.
3Snap your torso and straight legs up at the same time, reaching your hands for your toes.
4Balance at the top on your glutes for a split second in a crisp 'V' shape.
5Lower your limbs back down with control under full tension.
Common mistakes
Jerking your neck and throwing your head forward to create momentum.
Hyperextending your lower back off the floor as your legs descend.
Bending your knees, which cuts tension on your core.
Breathing
Exhale forcefully as you fold up; inhale as you lower back down.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, bend your knees or perform single-leg V-ups.
To make it harder, hold a medicine ball or small dumbbell in your hands.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
