Tuck Front Lever Hold
Lats, Abs, BicepsPull-Up Bar
This static progression builds foundation strength for the full front lever. It strengthens the lats, core, and upper back while shortening the lever arm to make the load manageable.
How to do it
1Grip the bar shoulder-width apart with an overhand grip and let yourself hang.
2Pull your knees tightly to your chest and lean your torso back, driving hard through your lats.
3Raise your hips and back until your body is horizontal and parallel to the floor.
4Keep your arms dead straight and actively pull your shoulder blades down toward your hips.
5Hold this position for time without sagging at the shoulders or hips.
Common mistakes
Bending your elbows, which takes the load off your lats and overloads your joints.
Letting your hips drop below shoulder level, breaking horizontal alignment and disengaging your core.
Rounding your shoulders forward, placing your shoulder joints in an unsafe position.
Breathing
Breathe steadily through your nose while keeping your abs fully braced.
Make it harder or easier
To regress, tuck your knees tighter against your chest.
To progress, un-tuck your knees slightly away from your torso to lengthen the lever.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
