TRX Standing Oblique Twist
Obliques, AbsTRX Suspension Trainer
The TRX standing oblique twist is a standing core exercise that targets your obliques and deep stabilizers. It teaches rotational control and keeps your torso rock-solid under asymmetrical load.
How to do it
1Stand sideways to the TRX anchor, grip both handles with both hands, and put tension on the straps.
2Lean sideways, maintaining a straight line from your head to your feet.
3Rotate your torso away from the anchor point, controlling the movement with your obliques.
4Smoothly rotate back to the start, resisting the pull of the straps.
5Complete all reps on one side, then switch.
Common mistakes
Twisting through your lower back instead of rotating with core control, straining your spine.
Yanking or jerking at the start of the turn, taking tension off your obliques.
Arching your back or letting your hips sag, breaking your straight body line.
Breathing
Exhale as you rotate your torso away. Inhale smoothly as you control the return.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, stand more upright to reduce the body angle.
To make it harder, lean lower to the ground or bring your feet closer together.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
