TRX Side Plank Crunch
Obliques, Abs, GlutesTRX Suspension Trainer
This side-plank variation targets the abs, obliques, and glutes. It demands high-level balance and builds unilateral core stability.
How to do it
1Secure your feet in the TRX straps, lie on your side, and press up into a side forearm plank.
2Align your body in a straight line and lock your hips up high.
3Drive your knees toward your chest by contracting your obliques.
4Pause briefly at peak contraction.
5Slowly extend back into the starting side plank.
Common mistakes
Letting your hips sag toward the floor, stressing the spine and disengaging the obliques.
Moving too fast and losing balance, increasing the risk of lower back twisting.
Rotating your chest toward the floor, shifting tension away from the targeted glutes and obliques.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull your knees toward your chest. Inhale as you extend back into the side plank.
Make it harder or easier
To simplify, lower your supporting elbow closer to the floor or reduce the knee bend. To make it harder, perform from a high plank on a straight arm or pause at peak contraction.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
