TRX Rip Trainer Overhead Press
Delts, Triceps, Abs, ObliquesTRX Rip Trainer
The TRX Rip Trainer overhead press is an asymmetrical shoulder press that targets your shoulders, triceps, and core. Resisting the cord's side pull forces your abs and back to lock in rigid alignment while building overhead pressing power and spinal stability.
How to do it
1Stand tall facing away from the anchor, holding the bar at shoulder and chest height.
2Set your spine in neutral, brace your core, and lock your pelvis in place.
3Drive the bar straight overhead with both hands until your arms are fully locked out.
4Keep your torso rock-solid, fighting the cord's side pull at peak extension.
5Slowly lower the bar back down to chest level under complete control.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back as you press overhead due to poor shoulder mobility or weak core bracing.
Allowing your torso or shoulders to twist toward the anchor under cord tension.
Pressing too fast by pushing off with your legs instead of pressing with controlled shoulder power.
Breathing
Exhale as you press the bar forcefully overhead. Inhale smoothly as you lower it back to shoulder height.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, move closer to the anchor to drop the elastic pull.
To make it harder, step further from the anchor or press while standing on one leg.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
