TRX Plank
Core, Abs, ObliquesTRX Suspension Trainer
A core-stability plank variation with your feet suspended in TRX straps. The unstable base forces your core to work overtime to keep your body aligned.
How to do it
1Place your feet in the TRX foot cradles and drop down to your forearms with elbows directly under your shoulders.
2Lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
3Squeeze your glutes and pull your navel in, preventing your lower back from arching.
4Keep your neck neutral and look down at the floor between your hands.
5Hold this position for the prescribed time, keeping your whole body locked tight.
Common mistakes
Sagging at the lower back, placing excessive stress on your lumbar spine.
Piking your hips high in the air, taking the workload off your abs.
Collapsing through your shoulders, which can lead to shoulder impingement and fatigue.
Breathing
Breathe steadily and deeply throughout the hold; do not hold your breath.
Make it harder or easier
To regress, raise the height of the TRX straps off the floor.
To progress, perform the plank on your hands or add controlled leg swings.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
