TRX Overhead Triceps Extension

TRX Overhead Triceps Extension

TricepsTRX Suspension Trainer

Bodyweight isolation exercise targeting the triceps, emphasizing the long head in an overhead position while keeping spinal load minimal.

How to do it

1Face away from the anchor point, grab the TRX handles, and extend your arms overhead.
2Step back and lean forward into a straight plank, putting tension on the straps.
3Fix your elbows shoulder-width apart and point them forward.
4Bend your elbows under control, lowering your body forward until your hands are behind your head.
5Drive through your triceps to extend your arms and press back to the starting position.

Common mistakes

Flaring elbows out to the sides, shifting tension away from the triceps onto the shoulders.
Arching the lower back, caused by poor core bracing and leading to spinal stress.
Moving from the shoulders instead of the elbows, turning an isolation movement into a body lean.

Breathing

Inhale as you bend your elbows and lower forward. Exhale as you extend your arms back up.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
