Toe Walk

Toe Walk

CalvesBodyweight

Simple locomotion drill to build calf and foot strength as you transfer weight step-to-step. Great equipment-free warm-up to prepare your feet for heavier training.

How to do it

1Stand upright with your feet hip-width apart and your spine straight.
2Smoothly rise onto your toes as high as comfortably possible.
3Take small steps forward, keeping your heels lifted the entire time.
4Keep your torso upright and avoid swaying heavily side to side.
5Complete your planned steps and gently lower your heels back to the floor.

Common mistakes

Letting your heels touch down between steps, removing load from your calves.
Leaning forward excessively, shifting your center of gravity and ruining balance.
Turning your feet inward or outward, creating uneven stress on your ankles.

Breathing

Breathe freely in rhythm with your steps without holding your breath.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, keep one hand on a wall for support.
To make it harder, increase the walking distance or carry light dumbbells.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
