Tibialis Raise
CalvesBodyweight
An essential exercise for strengthening the tibialis anterior on the front of the shin, balancing calf development and reducing knee stress.
How to do it
1Stand tall with your upper back and glutes against a wall, stepping your feet out slightly.
2Keep your legs straight with knees soft, letting your arms hang relaxed at your sides.
3Pull your toes and forefeet straight up toward your shins, shifting your weight onto your heels.
4Flex as high as possible and hold the top contraction for a full second.
5Slowly lower your feet back to the floor under control.
Common mistakes
Peeling your hips or lower back off the wall to swing yourself up, using momentum instead of shin strength.
Bending the knees, which engages the thighs and reduces calf and shin isolation.
Moving too fast and letting your feet drop to the floor without resisting gravity.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull your toes up; inhale as you return your feet to the floor.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
