Standing Single-Leg Cable Leg Extension

Standing Single-Leg Cable Leg Extension

QuadsCable pull machine

This standing low-pulley movement isolates the quadriceps. It builds strength across the front of your thigh and enhances knee joint stability.

How to do it

1Strap the low-cable cuff around your ankle and stand facing away from the machine.
2Take a small step forward to tension the cable, stand tall, and grip the frame for support.
3Raise your working thigh slightly forward with your knee bent at a 90-degree angle.
4Smoothly extend your leg straight out in front of you by squeezing your quad.
5Hold the lockout for a second, then return your leg back to the bent start position under control.

Common mistakes

Swinging your torso to create momentum instead of relying on quad strength.
Snapping or forcefully locking out the knee at the top, putting unnecessary strain on the joint.
Allowing the leg to bend back quickly and uncontrolled, stripping tension off the quad.

Breathing

Exhale as you extend your leg out. Inhale as you return to the bent knee position.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
