Standing Resistance Band Biceps Curl
BicepsResistance Band
An isolation drill designed to strengthen your biceps using band tension. Elastic resistance keeps constant tension on the muscle through the full range of motion, protecting your joints while giving a great arm pump.
How to do it
1Stand tall, step on the center of the band with both feet, and grab the handles in each hand.
2Lower your shoulders, brace your core, and keep a soft bend in your knees for stability.
3Pin your elbows to your ribs, then exhale and curl your hands toward your shoulders.
4Pause at the top squeeze to feel your biceps contract fully.
5Inhale and slowly lower your hands back down, keeping slight tension on the band at the bottom.
Common mistakes
Swinging your torso to cheat the weight, taking tension off the biceps and loading your lower back.
Letting your elbows drift forward or backward, engaging your shoulders and back instead.
Dropping your hands down rapidly, skipping the eccentric control and risking joint strain.
Breathing
Exhale as you curl the band up on the effort, then inhale as you slowly lower back down under control.
Make it harder or easier
To regress, step on the band with just one foot or loosen your grip on the rubber.
To progress, choke up on the band or hold a 2–3 second pause at the top squeeze.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
