Standing Quad and Hip Flexor Stretch
Quads, Hip FlexorsBodyweight
A standing stretch to lengthen the quads and hip flexors. It relieves accumulated tension in the front of the hips after long periods of sitting.
How to do it
1Stand tall, shift your weight onto one leg, and keep a slight bend in the standing knee.
2Bend your other leg behind you and grab your foot with the same-side hand.
3Point your bent knee straight down at the floor, keeping your knees close together.
4Lightly brace your core and tuck your tailbone down to feel a gentle stretch in the front of your thigh.
5Hold for the prescribed time, then gently release and switch sides.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back, which dumps tension out of the quad and strains your spine.
Letting your knee flare out to the side, breaking proper alignment.
Pulling your foot too hard against your glute, irritating the knee joint.
Breathing
Keep your breathing calm and deep, consciously relaxing your quad with every exhale.
