Standing Low-to-High Cable Fly

Standing Low-to-High Cable Fly

Upper ChestCable Crossover

An isolation movement that targets the upper chest. Performing this standing with low cables maintains constant tension across the entire range of motion.

How to do it

1Stand in the center of the crossover, grab the low-pulley handles, and step slightly forward.
2Slightly bend your elbows and lock that angle for the entire set.
3Exhale and sweep your arms up and together in an arc to chest height.
4Pause briefly at the top to maximize peak muscle squeeze.
5Inhale and lower your arms back to the start position under control.

Common mistakes

Using momentum to push the handles up — takes tension off the chest.
Bending and extending your arms — turns the fly into a press.
Letting your arms drift too far back at the bottom — overstresses the shoulder joints.

Breathing

Exhale as you bring your hands up and together; inhale as you control them back.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, take a smaller step forward. To make it harder, hold the peak contraction for two seconds.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
