Standing Cable Chest Press
Chest, Front Delts, Triceps, CoreCable Crossover
A standing chest press on a cable machine that builds the pecs, shoulders, and triceps. The standing posture forces your core to work hard for balance.
How to do it
1Set the cable pulleys at chest height and grab the handles.
2Step forward into a staggered stance for stability and lean your torso slightly forward.
3Position the handles at the sides of your chest with your elbows bent.
4Press the handles straight out by squeezing your chest, bringing your hands close together at the end.
5Slowly return to the start position, feeling a controlled stretch across your chest.
Common mistakes
Swinging your body to push the weight, taking work away from the chest.
Letting your elbows drift too far behind your back, straining the shoulder joints.
Shrugging your shoulders toward your ears during the press, overloading the upper traps.
Breathing
Exhale as you press forward and inhale as you control the handles back.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, lighten the weight or widen your stance for better balance.
To make it harder, set your feet side-by-side or hold the contraction at full extension.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
