Standing Band Chest Press
Chest, Shoulders, TricepsResistance Band
A fundamental standing push movement using a resistance band. It targets your chest, front delts, and triceps while challenging your core stability.
How to do it
1Anchor the band to a sturdy post at chest height, stand facing away, and grab the handles.
2Step forward to create tension, placing your feet hip-width apart or in a staggered stance.
3Bend your elbows at chest level, keeping your forearms parallel to the floor.
4Press the band straight out in front of you, fully extending your arms without locking your elbows.
5Slowly return to the starting position, resisting the pull of the band.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back as you press, which shifts the load from your chest to your spine.
Shrugging your shoulders up toward your ears, which overworks your neck and traps.
Letting the band snap your hands back quickly, skipping the eccentric phase of the lift.
Breathing
Exhale as you press forward; inhale as you return your hands to your chest.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, step closer to the anchor point to reduce tension; to make it harder, step further away or hold the peak contraction for a second.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
