High Knee Skips

High Knee Skips

Quads, Calves, Glutes, AbsBodyweight

Dynamic standing drill combining running mechanics with high knee drives. Warms up the quads, glutes, calves, and builds rhythm.

How to do it

1Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and elbows bent at 90 degrees.
2Start a rhythmic skip in place, driving your knees up toward hip height alternately.
3Land softly on the balls of your feet, avoiding heavy heel strikes.
4Pump your arms in rhythm with your legs, driving the opposite arm forward as your knee lifts.
5Keep your torso upright with a natural, slight forward lean without hunching.

Common mistakes

Leaning back as your knee rises, placing unnecessary stress on your lower back.
Landing flat-footed or on your heels, increasing joint impact.
Tensing your shoulders and making erratic arm movements that ruin your rhythm.

Breathing

Breathe rhythmically and deeply, matching your breathing to your step pace.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
