Single-Leg Dumbbell Triceps Extension

Single-Leg Dumbbell Triceps Extension

Triceps, Core, CalvesDumbbell

The single-leg overhead triceps extension targets the triceps while engaging your core and lower leg stabilizers.

How to do it

1Stand on one leg, hold a dumbbell in one hand, and extend it overhead.
2Place your free hand on your hip or hold it out to help maintain balance.
3Keep your upper arm vertical and inhale as you lower the dumbbell behind your head.
4Exhale and press the weight back up to the starting position overhead.
5Complete your reps with solid posture, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Flaring your elbow out to the side, shifting stress away from the triceps onto the shoulder joint.
Arching your lower back due to lack of shoulder mobility or poor core engagement.
Dropping the weight too quickly, causing you to lose your balance.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower the dumbbell behind your head; exhale as you extend your arm back up.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
