Single-Leg Dumbbell Lateral Raise

Single-Leg Dumbbell Lateral Raise

Delts, Core, CalvesDumbbells

The single-leg dumbbell lateral raise isolates the lateral deltoids while challenging your balance and core stability.

How to do it

1Hold a dumbbell in each hand, stand tall, and lift one foot off the floor.
2Maintain a slight bend in your elbows throughout the entire set.
3Exhale and raise your arms out to the sides until shoulder height without shrugging.
4Pause briefly at the top while maintaining your balance.
5Inhale as you smoothly lower the weights back down.

Common mistakes

Raising the weights above shoulder level by shrugging, shifting work to the traps.
Using body momentum to swing the weights up, disrupting your balance.
Locking out your elbows completely, stressing the elbow joints.

Breathing

Exhale as you raise the dumbbells; inhale as you lower them back down.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
