Single-Leg Resistance Band Balance Hold

Single-Leg Resistance Band Balance Hold

Glutes, Thighs, Core, Obliques, CalvesResistance Band

A single-leg balance exercise using resistance band perturbations. It strengthens your feet, ankles, and core while improving dynamic balance.

How to do it

1Anchor a resistance band to a sturdy post and strap or hold the other end.
2Stand on one leg with a soft knee bend and maintain tall posture.
3Step away to create side-to-side tension on the band.
4Hold your balance as the band tugs you off-center.
5Hold for the target duration, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Locking out the standing knee, increasing joint stress and reducing balance.
Leaning into the band, which disengages your core.
Lifting your foot or letting your arch collapse inward.

Breathing

Breathe steadily and smoothly throughout the hold—don't hold your breath.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, decrease band tension or lightly touch your non-working toes to the floor. To make it harder, increase band tension or add arm movements.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
