Half-Kneeling Single-Arm Cable Lift
Obliques, Shoulders, AbsCable Machine
A low-to-high diagonal movement targeting the core, obliques, and shoulders. The half-kneeling position locks your pelvis to isolate the upper body, building anti-rotation stability through your spine.
How to do it
1Kneel on one knee sideways to a low cable pulley and grab the handle with your outside hand.
2Pull the handle to your chest while keeping your torso straight and hips square.
3Press the handle diagonally up and across your body until your arm is fully extended overhead.
4Pause at the top for a second, keeping your abs tightly engaged.
5Smoothly bring the handle back to your chest, then return to the starting position at the cable.
Common mistakes
Rotating your hips with the handle, which unloads your core and ruins your balance.
Letting the cable yank you back quickly, risking shoulder strain.
Arching your lower back as you press up, shifting tension off your abs.
Breathing
Inhale to set your core, exhale as you drive the handle overhead, and inhale as you lower back down.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, lighten the weight and lower your press height. To make it harder, increase the load or hold for two seconds at the top.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
