Single-Arm Farmer's Carry
Core, Traps, ForearmsDumbbells, kettlebells
A functional walk holding a weight in one hand, forcing your core to resist leaning and twisting. It builds grip strength, upper back, and core stability while improving posture and balance.
How to do it
1Place a dumbbell or kettlebell next to your foot, bend your knees, squat down with a flat back, and pick up the weight with one hand.
2Stand tall, square your shoulders, and brace your core to prevent leaning toward the weight.
3Walk forward with controlled, even steps while keeping your torso strictly vertical.
4Keep your free arm slightly out to the side or at your chest for balance.
5Walk the set distance, then squat down with a flat back to lower the weight safely.
Common mistakes
Leaning toward the weight or overcompensating by leaning too far to the opposite side.
Slouching and rounding your shoulders, placing unnecessary stress on your spine.
Taking fast or wide strides, causing loss of control and swinging the weight.
Breathing
Breathe rhythmically and continuously with your steps—never hold your breath while walking.
