Single-Arm Dumbbell Curl

Single-Arm Dumbbell Curl

BicepsDumbbell

Unilateral bicep isolation exercise performed standing with a dumbbell. Working one arm at a time allows better mind-muscle connection and helps correct strength imbalances between sides.

How to do it

1Stand tall, hold a dumbbell in one hand, and place your non-working hand on your hip or by your side.
2Pin your working elbow to your torso and brace your core.
3Exhale and curl the dumbbell toward your shoulder with control.
4Squeeze your bicep at the top for one second.
5Inhale as you slowly lower the dumbbell back to the starting position.

Common mistakes

Leaning your torso toward the working side, putting uneven stress on your spine.
Driving your elbow forward as you curl, taking isolation away from the bicep.
Swinging the weight at the start instead of lifting with pure muscle control.

Breathing

Exhale as you curl the dumbbell toward your shoulder and inhale as you lower it with control.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
