Single-Arm Cable Chest Press

Single-Arm Cable Chest Press

Chest, Front Delts, Triceps, CoreCable Crossover

Standing single-arm cable press for the chest, shoulders, and triceps. Working one arm forces your core to fire to keep your torso stable while the cable maintains continuous tension.

How to do it

1Set the cable pulley at chest height, grab the handle in one hand, and step forward to create tension.
2Take a staggered stance with the opposite foot forward and brace your core.
3Position the hand by your chest with your elbow tucked at roughly a 45-degree angle.
4Exhale as you press the handle straight forward, keeping your shoulders square.
5Inhale as you slowly return to the start, feeling a stretch in your chest.

Common mistakes

Twisting your torso with the movement, disengaging your core and dumping tension off the chest.
Taking an unstable stance, causing balance loss and poor press mechanics.
Letting the cable yank your arm back quickly, stressing the shoulder joint.

Breathing

Exhale as you press forward and inhale as you control the return phase.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
