Seated Resistance Band Chest Press
Chest, Triceps, ShouldersResistance Band, Chair
The seated band chest press is an accessible exercise targeting your chest, triceps, and front shoulders. Sitting on a chair locks in your torso and eliminates strain, giving you a safe and solid pushing movement.
How to do it
1Sit upright on a chair, looping the band behind your back at shoulder blade height.
2Grasp the ends, bend your elbows, and hold your hands right beside your chest.
3Exhale and press the handles straight out in front of you until your arms are fully extended without locking your elbows.
4Hold the lockout for a second without letting your shoulders roll forward.
5Inhale and return to the start under control, feeling a gentle stretch across your chest.
Common mistakes
Slouching or rounding your back while pressing, putting dangerous stress on your shoulder joints.
Hard-locking your elbow joints at full arm extension.
Snapping your hands back fast under band pull without muscular control.
Breathing
Exhale as you drive your hands forward, and inhale as you control the band back to your chest.
Make it harder or easier
To make the press easier, reduce the band tension.
To increase difficulty, grab a heavier band or hold the extension for a brief pause.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
