Seated Chest Stretch

Seated Chest Stretch

ChestChair

A seated chest opener designed to stretch your pecs and shoulders. Perfect for releasing upper-body tension after sitting for long periods.

How to do it

1Sit on the edge of a chair with a straight back and feet flat on the floor.
2Reach your hands behind your back, clasping your fingers or holding the back of the chair.
3Pull your shoulder blades together and gently lift your chest forward and up.
4Keep your neck long and avoid tilting your head back.
5Hold this position for several deep breaths.

Common mistakes

Arching your lower back, which shifts the stretch away from your chest.
Shrugging your shoulders toward your ears, tensing up your traps.
Throwing your head back, which pinches your neck.

Breathing

Breathe deeply and steadily, deepening the stretch with every exhale.

Make it harder or easier

If you can't clasp your hands, hold a towel; to deepen the stretch, gently lift your clasped hands higher.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
