Seated Leg Extension (chair)
QuadsChair
An accessible seated isolation exercise to strengthen your quadriceps. It builds front-thigh strength and improves knee joint control.
How to do it
1Sit tall on a chair with your feet flat on the floor.
2Smoothly extend one leg out until it is completely straight.
3Hold at the top for a second, squeezing your quadriceps.
4Slowly lower your leg back to the start under full control.
Common mistakes
Jerking your leg up, which shifts the load from your quads to your knee ligaments.
Slouching and sliding your hips forward, cutting your range of motion and straining your lower back.
Dropping your leg loosely at the bottom, reducing time under tension.
Breathing
Exhale as you extend your leg; inhale as you smoothly return to the starting position.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
