Seated Hip Rotation Machine

Seated Hip Rotation Machine

Hip RotatorsHip Rotator Machine

This exercise uses a machine to isolate and strengthen the hip rotator muscles. It improves hip joint mobility and overall joint health for all fitness levels.

How to do it

1Adjust the seat so your hip joint aligns with the machine's pivot axis.
2Sit firmly, lock your torso in place, and position your legs against the pads.
3Rotate your hip smoothly outward along the designated path.
4Pause briefly at the end range of motion.
5Return your leg to the start position under strict control.

Common mistakes

Swiveling your torso or hips to cheat the weight, taking focus off the hip rotators.
Forcing too wide a range of motion, stretching and straining joint ligaments.
Jerking the weight without control, decreasing effectiveness and overloading the joint.

Breathing

Exhale as you rotate your hip outward. Inhale as you return to the start position.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, reduce the range of motion and load.
To make it harder, hold the peak rotation for two seconds on every rep.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
