Seated Dumbbell Front Raise
ShouldersDumbbells, Chair
Target and strengthen your front delts with this seated dumbbell raise. Sitting down keeps your posture upright and prevents momentum, making it a great move for shoulder stability.
How to do it
1Sit tall, hold dumbbells at your sides with your palms facing your body.
2Keep a slight bend in your elbows and lock that angle throughout the set.
3Exhale and raise your arms straight out in front of you to shoulder height or slightly higher.
4Pause for a split second at the top to control the weight.
5Inhale and slowly lower the dumbbells back down with control.
Common mistakes
Rocking your torso to swing the weights up, which strains your lower back.
Locking out your elbows, which puts unnecessary stress on the joints.
Letting the weights drop quickly, missing out on the eccentric phase.
Breathing
Exhale as you raise the dumbbells. Inhale as you lower them back down.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, perform alternating raises one arm at a time.
To make it harder, hold the weights at the top for two seconds on each rep.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
