Rotational Medicine Ball Throw
Obliques, Abs, Core, ShouldersMedicine Ball, Wall
This dynamic exercise builds explosive power in your core, abs, and shoulders through rotational movement. It teaches your body to efficiently transfer power from your legs through your trunk and into your arms, improving coordination and overall endurance.
How to do it
1Stand side-on to a wall about five feet away, holding a medicine ball with both hands at stomach height.
2Soften your knees, shift your weight onto your back leg, and rotate your torso back slightly to wind up.
3Push explosively off your back foot, rotating your hips and torso hard toward the wall.
4Release the ball into the wall at chest height, fully extending your arms on the follow-through.
5Catch the ball on the rebound and smoothly absorb the momentum back into the starting position.
Common mistakes
Throwing using only your arms, which reduces power and overstresses your shoulder joints.
Failing to pivot on your back hip, causing excessive twisting stress on your lower back.
Losing posture and rounding your back during the wind-up or catch, increasing injury risk.
Breathing
Take a deep inhale on the wind-up and exhale forcefully as you throw the ball into the wall.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
