Rotary Calf Machine
CalvesRotary Calf Machine
The rotary calf machine provides targeted isolation for your calves. Performing the exercise seated removes unnecessary pressure from your lower back while delivering a smooth, controlled path of motion.
How to do it
1Sit in the machine, place the balls of your feet on the platform, and set the thigh pad over your lower thighs.
2Adjust the seat so your calves feel a gentle stretch in the starting position.
3Drive through the balls of your feet to raise your heels as high as possible.
4Hold the peak contraction at the top for one second.
5Lower your heels under control until you feel a comfortable stretch in your calves.
Common mistakes
Bouncing fast at the bottom, loading your Achilles tendon instead of the targeted muscle.
Cutting the range of motion short, reducing calf activation.
Dropping the weight too quickly and skipping the eccentric loading phase.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower your heels smoothly. Exhale as you press up onto your toes.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, use lighter weight while maintaining a full range of motion. To make it harder, hold for two seconds at the top.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
