Rope Climb
Lats, Biceps, Forearms, AbsBattle Ropes
Vertical rope-climbing exercise that builds grip, back, and arm strength while requiring full-body coordination from your core and legs.
How to do it
1Reach up high with both hands and pull yourself up, clearing your feet off the floor.
2Drive your knees to your chest and clamp the rope tight between your feet and shins.
3Stand up forcefully through your legs to drive your body up while reaching higher with your hands.
4Pull yourself up hand over hand while maintaining a solid leg lock on the rope.
5Repeat the cycle until you reach your target height.
6Lower yourself down smoothly, stepping down with your hands and controlling your foot slide.
Common mistakes
Pulling with your arms alone without using your legs, leading to rapid fatigue.
Sliding down too quickly, which burns your palms.
A loose foot clamp that lets your legs slip off the rope.
Breathing
Breathe rhythmically, exhaling on the effort as you extend your legs and pull up.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, practice the leg clamp at a low height.
To make it harder, climb legless using arms only.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
