Ring Support Hold
Shoulders, Triceps, CoreGymnastic Rings
The gymnastics ring support hold develops shoulder stability, triceps strength, and deep core control. The unstable rings force stabilizer muscles to work continuously.
How to do it
1Jump up onto the rings and lock out your elbows completely.
2Turn your hands so your palms face forward or slightly outward.
3Depress your shoulders away from your ears, pushing down hard into the rings.
4Brace your core and glutes, keeping your legs squeezed together right beneath or slightly ahead of you.
5Hold a rock-solid position, using your arms and shoulders to fight ring movement.
Common mistakes
Bending your elbows, removing the required static lockout stress.
Shrugging your shoulders to your ears, which disables upper-back support.
Resting the rings against your thighs to cut down balance demand.
Breathing
Keep your breathing calm, steady, and continuous throughout the hold.
Make it harder or easier
To scale down, lower the rings and keep your feet lightly touching the floor.
To scale up, turn your palms further outward into a strict ring-turned-out hold.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
