Ring Push-Up
Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, CoreGymnastic Rings
An unstable-surface push-up variation that heavily recruits the chest and stabilizer muscles while allowing a joint-friendly path of motion.
How to do it
1Grab the rings and set up in a plank position with arms fully extended.
2Keep your body in a rigid straight line by squeezing your core and glutes.
3Bend your elbows to lower your chest smoothly between the rings.
4Descend to a comfortable depth while keeping full control.
5Press back up powerfully and turn your palms forward at the top lockout.
Common mistakes
Flaring the rings out wide, putting dangerous stress on the shoulders.
Sagging at the hips, losing core tension and placing load on the lower back.
Losing control of the rings during the press, increasing injury risk.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower down; exhale as you press back up.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, set the rings higher. To make it harder, lower the rings closer to the floor.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
