Revolved Triangle Pose

Revolved Triangle Pose

Hamstrings, Back, ObliquesBodyweight

Standing asymmetrical pose combining a forward hinge, torso rotation, and balance to stretch the hamstrings and obliques.

How to do it

1Stand tall, step your right foot back, and angle your back toes slightly outward.
2Square your hips forward and reach your left arm straight up.
3Hinge forward from your hips until your torso is parallel to the floor, placing your left hand or a block outside your front foot.
4Rotate your chest to the right and reach your right arm straight up.
5Hold your balance, then smoothly unwind and switch sides.

Common mistakes

Letting your hips tilt out of alignment, causing loss of balance.
Bending your legs, which reduces the stretch in the hamstrings.
Twisting by rounding your lower back instead of rotating through your hips and upper back.
Lifting your back heel off the floor, wrecking your foundation.

Breathing

Keep your breathing slow, deep, and equal in length on inhales and exhales.
