Standing Banded Chest Fly
ChestMini Band
A standing chest isolation exercise using a resistance band for gentle pectoral work. Allows you to control the range of motion and squeeze the chest without heavy free weights. Excellent for warmups or high-rep pump work at the end of a session.
How to do it
1Anchor a resistance band to a sturdy post at chest height, face away, and hold the ends in both hands.
2Step forward to create tension, extending your arms to the sides with a soft bend in the elbows.
3Exhale and sweep your hands together in front of you by squeezing your chest, keeping elbows slightly bent.
4Hold the peak contraction at the center for one second.
5Inhale and slowly open your arms back to the starting position, feeling a good stretch across your chest.
Common mistakes
Locking out elbows completely during the fly, transferring strain from the chest to the elbow joints.
Using body momentum and rocking back and forth, reducing the isolation effect.
Excessively arching your lower back, creating unwanted pressure in your lumbar spine.
Breathing
Exhale as you bring your hands together in front of you, and inhale as you open your arms back out to the sides.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
