Knee Push-Up to Handstand
Shoulders, Triceps, Core, ChestBodyweight
This hybrid movement combines a knee push-up with a transition into a pike handstand hold. It builds shoulder stability, triceps, chest, and core strength while preparing your body for advanced inversion balances.
How to do it
1Kneel on the floor, place your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width, and brace your core.
2Lower your chest to the floor, tucking your elbows to about 45 degrees.
3Press back up under control until your arms are fully extended.
4Keeping your knees on the floor, push your hips back and up, shifting your shoulders behind your wrists to align your arms and back in a straight line.
5Return to the starting knee plank position for the next rep.
Common mistakes
Sagging your lower back during the push-up reduces core activation and strains the lumbar spine.
Flaring your elbows out too wide places excessive strain on your shoulders.
Rushing the transition into the pike without control risks losing balance and impinging your shoulders.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower into the push-up, and exhale as you press up and drive back into the pike.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, reduce your push-up depth and pike range; to make it harder, perform the movement from your toes instead of your knees.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
