Power Skip

Power Skip

quads, glutes, hamstrings, calvesBodyweight

Power skips develop reactive leg power, calf stiffness, and athletic coordination. They strengthen your lower legs and hips while sharpening single-leg balance.

How to do it

1Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and elbows bent at 90 degrees.
2Step forward with one foot and explosively drive off the ball of that foot.
3Drive your opposite knee up to hip height while bringing the opposite arm forward.
4Land softly on the forefoot of your plant leg and transition directly into the next skip.

Common mistakes

Landing hard on a flat foot or locked knee, sending heavy impact into your joints.
Slouching or leaning back, ruining your balance and cutting your jump height.
Moving your arms out of sync, breaking your rhythm and spoiling your momentum.

Breathing

Breathe rhythmically, taking an inhale and exhale every two to three skips. Do not hold your breath.

Make it harder or easier

To scale down, perform high-knee marching in place without jumping.
To scale up, explode higher off the ground to maximize air time on each skip.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
