Overhead Triceps Stretch
Triceps, LatsBodyweight
A simple overhead standing stretch targeting the triceps and lats. It releases shoulder tightness and improves overhead mobility. Perform one arm at a time.
How to do it
1Stand tall, brace your core, and drop your shoulders away from your ears.
2Raise one arm overhead and bend at the elbow, placing your hand on your upper back.
3Place your other hand on top of the bent elbow.
4Gently push your elbow back and down until you feel a comfortable stretch.
5Repeat on the opposite side.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back, taking tension off the triceps and stressing your spine.
Tucking your chin to your chest, straining your neck.
Applying aggressive pressure to the elbow joint.
Breathing
Keep your breathing steady. Exhale as you gently push down on the elbow.
Make it harder or easier
To scale down, sit on a chair with back support to keep your spine neutral.
To intensify, add a subtle side bend away from the stretching arm.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
