Single-Arm Standing Cable Chest Press
Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, CoreCable Machine
A standing cable press that develops the chest and shoulders while forcing your core to resist rotation and maintain balance.
How to do it
1Stand facing away from the cable machine, grab the handle with one hand, and step forward.
2Stagger your stance for stability, bend your knees slightly, and set your elbow at chest height.
3Exhale and press the handle straight out in front of you by driving through your chest.
4Hold the lockout for a second without twisting your torso.
5Inhale and return your arm back under control, feeling a stretch through your chest.
Common mistakes
Twisting your hips and shoulders with the movement, taking load off the chest and core.
Pulling your elbow too far behind your torso, placing excess stress on the shoulder joint.
Letting the cable yank your arm back uncontrolled.
Breathing
Exhale as you press forward. Inhale on the slow control back.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, drop the weight and take a wider staggered stance.
To make it harder, line your feet up side-by-side to challenge your stability.
