Neck Side Bends
Neck, TrapsBodyweight
Lateral neck flexion to gently target the traps and sternocleidomastoids. Helps improve side-to-side mobility and relieve built-up neck tension.
How to do it
1Sit or stand tall with your back straight and shoulders locked down.
2Look straight ahead with your head centered.
3Slowly tilt your ear toward your shoulder without raising the shoulder to meet it.
4Hold at the point of a light stretch for 1–2 seconds.
5Return to center and perform the tilt on the opposite side.
Common mistakes
Shrugging your shoulder up toward your ear, compensating for limited neck mobility.
Turning your chin to the side as you tilt, distorting the path of motion.
Forcing the stretch or snapping sideways, causing neck discomfort.
Breathing
Inhale at center, then tilt your head on a smooth exhale.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
