Gentle Neck Tilts
Neck, TrapsBodyweight
Warm-up exercise to improve cervical spine mobility and gently work the side neck muscles and upper traps. Smoothly prepares your neck for physical activity.
How to do it
1Stand tall, pull your shoulders down and back, and keep a neutral spine.
2Gently tilt your head, bringing your ear toward your shoulder without shrugging.
3Pause at the point of light tension for a second, then return to center.
4Perform the same gentle tilt to the opposite side.
Common mistakes
Shrugging your shoulder toward your ear, which pinches the target muscles instead of stretching them.
Using jerky movements or excessive range of motion, which can cause neck discomfort.
Tilting your head backward or jutting your chin forward during the tilt.
Breathing
Exhale as you tilt your head, and inhale as you return to center.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
