Neck Extension Machine

Neck Extension Machine

NeckNeck Machine

Seated neck extensions isolate and strengthen the neck extensors with minimal spinal loading. Ideal for developing neck muscles and improving postural control.

How to do it

1Sit tall in the machine, set the seat height, and rest the padded lever against the back of your head.
2Keep your back flat against the pad with your spine in a neutral alignment.
3Tilt your head backward slowly, engaging the muscles at the back of your neck.
4Hold for one second at a comfortable point of full extension.
5Slowly return your head to the starting position without jerky movements.

Common mistakes

Moving rapidly or jerking, which increases strain on cervical vertebrae and ligaments.
Leaning back with your torso to cheat the movement instead of keeping it isolated to your neck.
Using too much weight, leading to muscle strain and compromised form.

Breathing

Inhale before starting the movement. Exhale as you extend your head backward.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, use minimal weight and work in a partial range of motion. To make it harder, add a static hold at peak extension.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
