Medicine Ball Russian Twist
Obliques, CoreMedicine Ball
Seated core exercise that rotates the torso against medicine ball resistance. Strengthens the obliques and deep abdominal wall while building rotational stability.
How to do it
1Sit on the floor, bend your knees, and lean back slightly with a flat back while holding the med ball at your chest.
2Lift your feet off the floor, or keep heels lightly touching for balance.
3Rotate your torso to the right, bringing the ball toward your right hip while maintaining a straight spine.
4Return to center and smoothly rotate to the left.
5Control the movement with your core; do not rely on momentum.
Common mistakes
Rounding your lower back, placing unnecessary strain on your spine.
Jerking side to side instead of controlling the twist with your obliques.
Moving only your arms instead of rotating your thoracic spine and chest.
Breathing
Exhale as you rotate to the side; inhale as you return to center.
